Windows 7 Phone Declining Already

The Windows 7 Phone platform landed and started running, at first with good acceptance, but now, it has lost momentum. The quarterly US Smartphone market statistics from comScore showing figures from November to the end of January places Google Android at 32.2 percent of total US market share. The Android did not only maintain the market share it had before the period under review but also gain an additional 8%. Research In Motion (makers of blackberry) is in second position, hovering around a market share of 30.4%. Apple comes third with a US market share of 24.7%.

Microsoft came in at a 8% US market share. This was down close to 2 full percentage points of market share from one quarter to the next. This drop is significant since the Windows Phone had such a low market share to start with.
