Kinect is the Fastest Selling Electronic Device

Microsoft is not just the king of computer operating systems and office suits, but also a major player in the gaming console business. Its game attachment device, the Kinect, has made the Guinness Book of Records as the fastest selling electronic device. So far, Redmond puts the figure of units already sold at 10 million since November 2010 when it was first released.

Kinect uses a motion controller technology designed by PrimeSense, a company Microsoft acquired not too long ago. Microsoft has been criticized for buying technologies instead of innovating. However, some people argue that Microsoft may have just slapped a label on Kinect, but there were smartphones and tablet computers even before Apple came up with iPhone and iPad. So, it is not always about who does it first, but who does it the best.
